An Energy-Efficient Strategy for Microcontrollers

Power saving has always been an important research direction in the field of microcontrollers. Dozens low power technologies have proposed to achieve goal reducing their consumption. However, most them focus mostly on lowering consumption rate. It is well known that energy integral over time. Thus, our view both and time should be carefully considered better efficiency. We reviewed some commonly used assumptions strategy for improving A series test sets are designed validate hypotheses The experimental results suggest no less impact than power. To support operation processor, peripheral components consume a constant amount regardless clock frequency, but will reduced when processor enters low-power modes. This interesting phenomena different from usual thinking can saved by increasing frequency. For STM32F407 Xtensa LX6 processors, this article also analyzes calculates minimum sleep required achieving based analytical models.
